MTG now has a new website at
www.mtgroup.com.au
These MTG-Series project-built cats are in
response to strong demand for "individual yet economical"
high-performance fast cruising catamarans in the widest range of
cruising sizes from 30' to 65'. Owners demanding the latest in design
and technological advances rely on us for custom solutions - modern,
stylish, light-weight multihulls that go and that are quick to build.
The
MTG
program is based on
successful designs by Tony Grainger. All
share a distinctive profile and similar features, such as wide side
decks and a single-step cabin, opening windows behind the mast for
ventilation, and excellent vision form the helm.
Across the size-range, the designs deliver the
exhilarating sailing performance that only custom-built boats can
deliver, but they are also designed to deliver big on value. The
surfaces are ideally developed for our building techniques resulting in
quick build-times. These advances enable us to engage owners who are
considering production boats or kit boats, many of which are too heavily
built and of too jaded a design to go well.
The philosophy behind the designs is to keep things
fresh and simple and by doing so, to extract the maximum in performance,
comfort and looks for the amount of time and money invested in the
construction of the boats. These boats are fast and simple to build and
don't cost the earth. The wide range of sizes is aimed at satisfying
most needs and meeting most budgets.
By offering a wide spread of boat sizes we are able
to match the right boat to most clients' needs without over-fitting or
overloading. Each design in the series has a target weight and a sharp
focus on lively sailing performance. If carrying cruising stores are
what's required the client can move up a size.
This doesn't mean there are no options. Quite the contrary - above all
we build custom boats. Besides the usual options such as choices between
daggerboards or fixed keels, and rotating or fixed rigs, someone who is
exceptionally tall could order a boat with headroom to suit; the number
of berths and heads and other general arrangements such as whether the
galley is up or down are also open as options. But it does mean that we
can avoid taking a given design to extremes.
Bob Peel and Tony Grainger have collaborated since
1993. These boats bear this experience with unique elements that
have drawn praise from new owners and generate a great deal of interest
amongst prospective owners alike.
Grainger Designs are renowned internationally for their track record
trough innovation. This approach complements our choice to run Multi
Hull Technologies Group as a custom-boat building business with the very
latest project-boatbuilding equipment but without female moulds. The
result is the freedom to test and improve the designs over time and to
adopt new technologies as soon as they become available thus keeping the
series alive with every latest advancement. This commitment to
maintaining a truly `dynamically evolving series' is for sailors who are
serious about their sailing and who deserve the latest and the best. The existing designs range from 30' 2" (9.2 metres )
to 65', (20.0 metres) LOA. Larger boats of similar concept and design up
to about 70 feet LOA and boats in between sizes, can be built in
our modern boatworks.
