The 433 was the result of adapting an existing design to accomplished and experienced sailors who needed the room of a 40 footer but with the performance of the longer leaner hulls of a 43 footer.

The clients of 433 #1 "Cat-man-Do..!" liked the plan of the 400 and her 40' budget. However we identified for them a need for longer hulls in order to achieve the payload they required at the performance level that we insist our boats must have.

Tony Grainger did a complete re-draw of the shell and particularly of the  underbodies, which was then superimposed on the 400 bulkhead framework and spacing.

The result is a very modern attractive catamaran with full standing headroom. An ideal, economical, vessel for long term cruising, but which has thrilled her owners with her exhilarating sailing qualities

The 433 is designed for a pair of saildrive diesels, fitted under the aft bunks.

Since sailing "Cat-Man-Do..!", MTG and Grainger Designs modified the plans somewhat to produce the 44XT. The added length is in the cockpit where it provides foot-space over the ends of the aft berths while also enlarging the walk-throughs to the transom steps.
